Welcome to a fragment of my imagination! Despite all my recent college studies, my brain is still exploding to write so I have decided to take a moment to entertain my blog readers. What you are about to read is just the outermost surface of how I think, however, it will also expose to you a very deep spot in my heart since it is based on my child.
I have a blog waiting to be posted called: "My Pride and Joy," I want to mention it to you to display how special my boys are individually. I have always said: My oldest is my Pride and My youngest is my Joy. It may sound strange that I could give them such particular descriptions but it has rang true thus far. This blog is about my oldest son. In contrast to my facebook page you may have noticed that I do not use names on my blogspot, just a personal preference of mine...BUT if you know me then you know who my oldest son is :)
Please be warned that this is an just a thought process of mine based on accumulated truths but "of course" there is no way that I could predict the future. Please enjoy the following letter created for an interesting read:
Dear Eldest Son,
I write this letter to you with no intentions of ever giving it to you. Should my intuitions become reality I would then hand this letter over to you. In the case that your life direction turns in another unique direction, this letter will be dismissed as an overactive imagination of momma...it will then remain tucked away in a journal that you may or may not come across in later years. Dear Son, I have always felt you were a different sort of child. The very first day that I laid eyes on you I felt a pride that I cannot explain. My first thought was "he looks like a little man"...I have never stopped looking at you that way, a child beyond your actual birth age. I noticed as you mastered each new milestone, you were way ahead of schedule. At thirteen months old you became the "big boy brother" and I felt guilt that you missed out on being mommas baby. As I look back I see things that God was doing to prepare you for your future. I finally started adding things up when you were around age four. My aha moment told me that...There was a very good chance that you would choose to be an American soldier. I surpressed the thoughts and even tried to discourage you when you would insinuate such a thing. One day I went as far as to say, "You could die and I would never see you again"...you answered: "I'll come back home mom!" You wanted your bedroom painted green and decorated in GI Joe. You wanted "real" military stuff for decor and I searched the antiques shops tirelessly for two weeks to find the perfect artifacts to represent each of the different military branches. A few times I ventured to wonder if you would be a troubled child due to your interest for guns, knives, and fighting for the things you wanted. I began to pray to God every night, that HE would to start protecting you now and teaching me the right things to do and say, to keep you on an honorable path. July 4th after your fifth birthday, you took special interest in American flags, you and a young boy at church took a solo verse together that went like this "we live in a country, the greatest on earth, her flag stands for freedon and what it is worth, she stands in the harbor miss liberty calls, all have gave some but some have a gave all for me to be blessed." It seems you memorized the pledge of alliegence the very first day of kindergarten. Your excitement was bubbling over when you found out you would gather around the flag in honor of 9/11. You begged to learn the words of the song that was sang at the assembly, so we looked it up on youtube and sang God Bless the USA for days. On hat day you insisted to wear a soldiers hat that we had bought at the flea market a couple of weeks prior..you dressed in your camo and with an American flag shirt under and carried you soldier backpack proudly. The owner of the hat had told us of the story of her brother and his illness from pre-vaccinations before leaving for Iraq. Soon after he was home his body gave away and he was confined to a wheelchair and soon his life ended. I could not understand why she would sell such a special momento but felt a warmness that we were fortunate to have bought it. As Veterans Day approached and I began to remember the many family members of my own who had proudly served...it hit me like a ton of bricks, "it is in your blood"...I don't know how it got there because there is no immediate family influence on you (save a first cousin of mine, being a second cousin of yours) but it must be in your blood! Dear God...NO!! Please No!! I do not want to give my son. I prayed for a son and indeed you blessed me two-fold BUT BUT BUT...I cannot spare even one of my children!! This world is entirely too wicked, they are trying to remove YOU from our great America, I cannot allow him to go fight for people like that!!!
Suddenly,....In the most clear tone, the sweetest voice of God that you have ever heard said: "I know, I have been there too...Its okay!"
I began to direct my thoughts in a way that I could already see HIS divine blessings on my family. God loved me enough to go ahead and warn me and prepare me. I am very reluctant to even think of the fact that in less than thirteen years my son could make his own decision to serve his country. God was preparing you as well, I just know that you will accept God in your heart because I feel a strong sense that there is a job for you to do, almost like it happened with Jeremiah in the Bible--God knew him and prepared him in the womb. Speaking of womb, you came from my womb with a scar on your left side near your ribs, I joke and say God has already prepared you a wife, my mind has ventured to explore other possible meaning of the scar, when chances are... you simply scratched yourself in utero.
Dear son, God is preparing you. I am thinking more clearly now trying to swallow down the consideration that I am the cause for such a decision, my parenting style could be interpreted as a drill sargeant in regards to be accountable, punctual, and trustworthy, demanding a daily family routine. I see that you were born with a take-charge spirit and felt so proud of your independance to help care for your brother. I found myself trusting you to handle the job you volunteered to do, I would almost laugh at myself when I thought of the absurdity that you could fix your own cereal, or hush your brother to sleep. I shudder to remember the protector role that you did not hesitate to armor yourself with when your daddy would experience a heath problem and you would keep your brother occupied in the next room over to be sure he wasn't scared. My heart aches when I recall how tough you always have to be and how seldom you would admit that something hurt. I always say "if he cries, run to him, he is hurt!"
On the other hand I see a soft, tender love for people behind that tough boy facade. I see a little boy who loves to give things away, you are not very materialistic at all and you have gave your toys away even at the rebuttal of your mother. You would wince at another persons pain and beg for us to help them, your concern for animals is so intense. Could any or all of these instances be "on purpose," ways to mold you for your future or it is clearly coincidental? Only time will reveal the the conclusion of this letter. No matter what you are your mommas pride!"
I love you!!
Mother

TRUST ~ Step 2
Step 2 - Psalms 37:3 TRUST in the Lord and do good; so shalt thou dwell in the land, and verily thou shalt be fed,
So, now that we have learned to let our worries go...our heart is cleaned out and has plenty of room for TRUST. If we recall a very familiar verse {Prov 3:[5] Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding.} Now we know how to really apply this verse to our lives. It says with ALL thine heart, now we have our entire heart ready to TRUST. Trust seems like it should be one of the final steps BUT actually we need to TRUST right away. That is what Trust is all about completely relying on God. Don't try to fix it yourself, don't even try to figure it out for that matter because you will quickly be right back to the fretting stage and we clearly agreed already that worry don't work :)
When we TRUST God, allow it to be ALL about HIM and what HE can do, when we are TRUSTING...that is our only care or responsiblilty is to just TRUST, no other ability of ours will be needed because we are leaving it to Gods ability.
God showed me an example today when I was praying about this blog. We never question the designer or builder of the many bridges we cross from day to day, or what about that high rise building that you work in, or the manufacturer of the vehicle that you expect to get you and your family safely from here to there...BUT somehow we automatically trust that they got it right. So....maybe it is because we can't see God, but in fact, we can't see the other builders either, just the evidence they were there. When you look in the mirror, you see evidence that God was/is there. He created us in the likeness of HIS own image and he knows quite well how to fix our ailments, worries, and much more. {Ps. 56:13 says [13] For thou hast delivered my soul from death: wilt not thou deliver my feet from falling, that I may walk before God in the light of the living?} If HE can do that then we can TRUST HIM with anything!!!
{Psalms 71:[1] In thee, O LORD, do I put my trust: let me never be put to confusion.} - - Ask God to help you with confusion, I have a rule of thumb that I go by... "If it confuses me, chances are...it is not of God!!!" If you keep trying to find the answer about something that you question if its right or wrong or may be someone you know questions it...I say: "Avoid, if at all possible!!" Even if it is not wrong, if it gets you in a state of confusion, you will be right back to fretting and before you know it you will be defeated about somthing that you haven't even done yet.
Going back up to end of our verse for this thought is says {Ps. 37:3....VERILY thou shalt be fed}. Verily means "really and trully!!!!" HE means it!!
Statistically thinking: the word TRUST is used 44 times in the book of Psalms :)
I'll give you a few Bible references here for TRUST that you can look up sometime:
Ps.13:5 - Trust HIS Mercy
Ps.56:3 - Trust when you are afraid
Ps.62:8 - Trust at all times
Ps.71:5 - Trust from your youth
Ps.84:12 - Blessed who Trust
Ps.118:8 - It is better to Trust God than man
Ps.119:42 - Trust Thy Word
We will conclude with ~~~ Can GOD Trust You, to Trust HIM?? ~~~
Coming up next: Step 3 - You will be "DELIGHTED"

Ps 37:1 Fret Not - Step ONE
One day I was praying for a Sunday school lesson and God showed me something amazing in HIS word(well, that wasn't unusual though). We so often want a step by step program to acheive the results that we are searching for...
In Psalms 37, God showed me just that! HE laid out a six step program to life. Nope I didn't have to look any further than Gods word. This program is fail proof, I have tried it again and again and it has worked, as long as I followed the steps. The person who designed this six step program is King of Kings and Lord of Lord and faithful to keep HIS word because remember, HE is the WORD. I am going to try to do six different blogs about each step. I have already taught all six steps in class but God just keeps encouraging me to share this again. First, I am going to assume that you have received salvation at some time in your life and you have access to communicate with our Saviour, if not...then maybe this blog could help you understand why having HIM is so important!!
So here we go...
Step ONE
Psalms 37:1-2
FRET NOT thyself because evildoers, neither be thou envious against the workers of iniquity. 2.For they shall be cut down, like the grass, and whitered as the green herb.
Let us just focus on the first two words "FRET NOT," I will come back to the rest of the verse later but it basically indicates that we do have things that cause us to fret... or a more modern term called "WORRY!"
Most people worry about stuff, big stuff, small stuff, stuff that can be changed, stuff that cant be changed, stuff that matter and stuff that dont matter...sometimes we worry about worrying... right?
BUT God had already taught David something here when he was writing this psalm, David is telling us from experience to Fret Not, he had been there done that...study David sometime and find out all the things that he faced and could have worried about but he learned the "secret" was to Fret Not! Everyone wants to know the special secret to happiness. I think it begins with FRET NOT. I keep putting this in capital letters because I think if we dont achieve this step then we wont make it through to the next step. If we are worrying, then we are already defeated. This may even be the first indicator of you being lost or saved. If you are fretting about your salvation then you could be under conviction and really lost or satan may have you right where he wants you, a child of God who can't move on because of doubt! Either case, please get it fixed up so we can get on to enjoying our salvation and seeing prayers answered and victories won!
Supporting scripture...
Luke 21:
[31] So likewise ye, when ye see these things come to pass, know ye that the kingdom of God is nigh at hand.
[32] Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass away, till all be fulfilled.
[33] Heaven and earth shall pass away: but my words shall not pass away.
[34] And take heed to yourselves, lest at any time your hearts be overcharged with surfeiting, and drunkenness, and cares of this life, and so that day come upon you unawares.
[35] For as a snare shall it come on all them that dwell on the face of the whole earth.
[36] Watch ye therefore, and pray always, that ye may be accounted worthy to escape all these things that shall come to pass, and to stand before the Son of man.
[37] And in the day time he was teaching in the temple; and at night he went out, and abode in the mount that is called the mount of Olives.
[38] And all the people came early in the morning to him in the temple, for to hear him.
(((This scripture above reiterates that Gods word is true and we can take it to the bank as truth, it goes on to say to take heed because your hearts may be overcome by worry, and basically the next verse goes on to say that this worry will trip us all who dwell on the face of the earth BUT instructs us to watch and pray that we may be worthy to escape these things...... Wow, even Jesus taught and encouraged us to fret not, HE was still encouraging the same approach to a victorious life as David has used in the Old Testament. Even in 2011 this very same approach works...I will share with you just one of the many worrying experiences that I took on myself at the end of blog. I would love for you to share with me and others as well....when I see that you conquered worry in a particular situation, it will help me should I walk in your same shoes and vice versa.)))
There are many other verses of reference in the Bible that are more commonly known and quoted such as (paraphrased).."to not worry for tomorrow" and HE takes care of the sparrows, he can take care of you"
Personal experience and example: When my husband was first diagnosed with cancer, do you think I fretted? Absolutely, I must confess...I was worried sick, physically could not eat! I allowed my doubt and fretting to keep me in that state at least two weeks before I finally took God at HIS word and acknowledged that HE could take care of this. I mean seriously, it was already beyond anything I could do to change the situation so what was worrying going to help. At this point I was ready to move on to the next verse and step two "TRUST" this blog will be continued......
Phil. 4:
[6] Be careful for nothing; but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known unto God.
[7] And the peace of God, which passeth all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

A true Vietnam story told from my aunt ~ God Bless Our Independence day!
My great aunt (who does not allow me to post her name) tells me tales of old every Monday of our weekly visit. This past Monday she shared with me a story about her nephew that really touched my heart. It was even more special when I was thinking of what an encouraging July the fourth blog this would be to share with others. Her nephew, whom has since passed away, was named Carl...he left for Vienam at a very young age and fought in the heat of the battle, but back home he had an aunt that would write him every week and he would write her back too, she would pray daily for him and ask God to watch over him - God did! One day she was writing a letter and God told her to go get a bible, tear out the 91st Psalms and mail it to him.
This was the very first scripture she had ever memorized. When she was a little girl (born in 1927) there was usually just one family bible in the house, each person didnt have their own bible like we do today. She would get the big family bible, take it out to the field and memorize scripture since she didnt have it at her fingertips to look up. Can you imagine how much more close we would hold scripture to our hearts if we actually learned it because we wasnt sure when we could punch it into our online bible or blow off the dust of the many bibles laying around the house?
She said God would not allow her to write it down and although she was feeling very hesitant to tear a page from the bible, her heart felt real strong that God needed Carl to see these words from an actual bible. she managed to find a spare bible (at this time she was older and bibles were a little more easy to get) she mailed the page of the Bible chapter to him!
As he sit in Vietnam he opened the letter and this time he found more than words from an aunt that loved him so much. he found promises from Gods word to help him through the scariest times of his life. He took the bible page folded and placed it in his tshirt pocket under his uniform. every single day he would move that bible page from one shirt to the next until finally he came home.
As soon as he returned home he took that page back to her and told her of all the times that he would hold his hand over that scripture and ask God to protect him and give him the strength to keep fighting for his country and family. She handed him the bible that the page came from and he returned the page. God kept his word safe as well as his servant. God word is such a power tool that we so often overlook or forget. take his word and hide it in your heart as the 119th psalms instructs us to do. just like carl had to be a soldier prepared for battle, we too can use God to prepare us for everyday battles.
We celebrate and enjoy independance but without the individual stories of men/women fighting, families at home praying, and God protecting, we would never know what being free really meant! God bless you each this independance day! God Bless America!!
[2] I will say of the LORD, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.
[3] Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
[4] He shall cover thee with his feathers, and under his wings shalt thou trust: his truth shall be thy shield and buckler.
[5] Thou shalt not be afraid for the terror by night; nor for the arrow that flieth by day;
[6] Nor for the pestilence that walketh in darkness; nor for the destruction that wasteth at noonday.
[7] A thousand shall fall at thy side, and ten thousand at thy right hand; but it shall not come nigh thee.
[8] Only with thine eyes shalt thou behold and see the reward of the wicked.
[9] Because thou hast made the LORD, which is my refuge, even the most High, thy habitation;
[10] There shall no evil befall thee, neither shall any plague come nigh thy dwelling.
[11] For he shall give his angels charge over thee, to keep thee in all thy ways.
[12] They shall bear thee up in their hands, lest thou dash thy foot against a stone.
[13] Thou shalt tread upon the lion and adder: the young lion and the dragon shalt thou trample under feet.
[14] Because he hath set his love upon me, therefore will I deliver him: I will set him on high, because he hath known my name.
[15] He shall call upon me, and I will answer him: I will be with him in trouble; I will deliver him, and honour him.
[16] With long life will I satisfy him, and shew him my salvation.
This was the very first scripture she had ever memorized. The Rose
I have thought of this poem many times since I first read it about 5 years ago. It is such a beautiful illustration of how some things MUST be left in Gods hands. I adore roses and previously had a large rose garden for several years, never one time was "I" able to speed up the process of one single bloom. Each rose opened in its own time, and proved beautiful and perfect EVERY time. When you start to grow and live spiritually, as a result of God in your heart, you will bloom into the perfect servant that HE would have you be ~ all in "HIS" time! As each petals opens a new experience or trial or mile is represented, God brought you through safely, Beautifully. Love, Shawnte
Eph. 2:10 ~For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus unto good works, which God hath before ordained that we should walk in them.

THE ROSE
It is only a tiny rosebud,
A flower of God's design;
But I cannot unfold the petals
With these clumsy hands of mine.
The secret of unfolding flowers
Is not known to such as I.
GOD opens this flower so sweetly,
When in my hands they fade and die.
If I cannot unfold a rosebud,
This flower of God's design,
Then how can I think I have wisdom
To unfold this life of mine?
So I'll trust in Him for His leading
Each moment of every day.
I will look to him for His guidance
Each step of the pilgrim way.
The pathway that lies before me,
Only my Heavenly Father knows.
I'll trust Him to unfold the moments,
Just as He unfolds the rose.

Being Prepared!
Do you remember that really sick feeling that you get in the pit of your stomach when you show up to class and are not aware that the test date had changed? I recently experience that and it directed my thoughts to a spiritual avenue...
I walked in to class on Tuesday to find out that my test had changed to that very day; One week sooner! I panicked!! I had missed the class before because the kids were on spring break and I did not have a sitter. I texted a girl in class the day I missed and she never mentioned it! At first, I wanted to be mad at everyone else BUT it boiled down to the fact that it was MY class, MY responsiblilty, MY grade, MY career plans that were on the line and I should have been prepared! Fortunately, the professor let me come in the next morning to take it BUT it reminded me of my firm belief that there will be NO second chances when it comes to life after death!
I feel strong in my belief that every breath this side of death is your only second chance! I am so thankful that I received the only preparation that I will ever need when I asked Jesus into my heart. Of course along the way I aquire experience that prepares me to deal with new trials that come my way, as well as, a means to help others on their journey. However, the initial YES sealed my hope to heaven when I leave earth.
I have a blog to post of my testimony in detail when God impresses me to do so.
That sick feeling of not being prepared for the test had a resolution. There are no resolutions after your soul leaves this human body. I cannot imagine the feeling of "IF" I would have believe on Jesus Christ. When Gods spirit comes by to visit you; please respond "YES" and be sure your prepared for the next billion years.
May God Bless You Each :)

A Flattering Funny
Last week a man that looked to be in his fifties stopped by our home looking for my husband. I told him that he was not home and the man said no big deal, he would talk to him tomorrow.
-He comes back the next day (I'm not home this time, by the way) and he tells my husband that he better lock his daughter up because she is very pretty! my husband says: "Why thank you sir, but that is my wife and I will be sure to keep a close eye on her!"
LOL! It was "Funny" but also "Flattering" ---> just a little ;)
My poor husband always gets accused of robbing the cradle and he is ONLY one year older than me. Bless his heart, I guess that is what a mustache & beard since fourteen, an inherited hairline, and hard work will do to you :)
I would NOT add or take away one thing from this man; He was made just especially for me!
Thank you God for the gift of my husband!

My Dad - In a Beagles Life
My Dad – In a Beagles Life!
My dad has always referred to himself as a mountain man. He loves to spend ALL his spare time in the mountains; hunting, fishing, camping, enjoying life from the view of a great horned owl (if you know my father personally then you will quickly notice the play on words). He has hunted almost every beast in America, that is legal, to hunt. He was a taxidermist in past years and I grew up surrounded by stuffed critters. His only fear was an eight-legged monster, better known as the spider. He would catch snakes with his bare hands. He has sewn up dogs in the mountains and saved their lives after encounters with predators when caught off-guard. He was a man that would leave you with a furrowed impression.
The dogs he trained became very valuable. In fact, one of his most expensive and favorite dogs ran over a cliff in the winter of 1977 just before I was born; he took her home, rolled her up in an old tapestry rug and buried her up the mountain behind his home (at the time). The comical part of this story is that I ended up with her name… yes, you heard correctly, my middle name is Sheena, the same as dads deceased dog..lol! My mother to this day insists that the dogs name was spelled with one “e” (Shena) on her papers, but I have always felt dad knew otherwise!
My dad called this evening to check on everyone and we were talking about a bit of everything. He said that he would leave me some birthday money next week at my aunts house and I said: “dad, can you believe your baby girl will be 33 next week.” He said: ”Actually I never really think about age much but the other evening as I was making my way back across the mountain from buying another beagle, it occurred to me that this very well could be my last trip.” You see, my dad has been making that trip every 12-13 years (about the average life of each beagle) since he was a young man. He said: "the next trip I’ll be seventy and chances are that I either won’t be up to making the trip or too tired to train and hunt another dog” of course I said: “daddy, you better go ahead and plan to make that trip!”
He told me a couple of months after my first son was born that his only regret in his life was that he didn’t spend more time with my brother and me when we were little instead of hunting. I don’t remember being neglected my daddy, my memories are of a man who would do anything to provide for his children. I was so very proud to link my arm in his as we walked down the aisle and he gave me away. As the song Butterfly Kisses played, his eyes filled with tears and my face begin to shine as the words rang so true of our relationship on so many levels. He is a hero of mine... I STILL think he knows everything!! He is an even better papaw than I could have ever imagined. God sure did bless me when he chose a good ole' mountain boy to be my dad.
People have many different ways that they reflect on their life and the time periods or decades BUT I just have to smile when I think of my daddy measuring his life, in the life span of beagles.

Our First Date
April 1997
He had seen me, but I had never seen him before! He told my cousin that he wanted to marry me….lol! She told him: “there is no way, she is in nursing school and totally fed up with guys and I doubt she would marry anyone for many years to come.” He insisted on my phone number and she gave in, but she did call to warn me that he would be calling! Of course, she used the “he has a motorcycle” to smooth it over with me too…Thanks cuz J
I was living at my grandmother’s house, going to school, working night shift at a nursing home, and had just went through a break-up.
The phone rang and it was him, we immediately had everything to talk about and talked for hours that first night. His voice was deep and his accent was definitely country. I could hear sincerity in his voice and I wanted to know more.
The very first night he said; “I’m looking for a wife, not a long term girlfriend!”…LOL!
I thought: “this guy is psycho, you don’t say that the very first night!! Oh but this guy did! I certainly DID NOT want to be a WIFE, in fact, I didn’t even want to be a girlfriend but I was intrigued by his confidence.
We scheduled a date for the next day and he came to pick me up. When he walked up to the glass door, I pushed it back closed fast. I thought… My cousin had not told me that she was setting me up with an old man! I eased the door back open and made sure this guy’s name really was the person I was expecting…he verified that it was him and I said: “I’m very sorry but I just didn’t realize you were old.” He laughed and said: “I’m not old!” I continued to accuse him of being old until he retrieved his wallet and showed me his ID…TWENTY! There is no way this man is only twenty!!! I kept refusing to believe him and he said: “You’re right! I had a fake ID made on my way here so I could take you out!” We laughed hysterically and I just knew we had a connection that was different.
We climbed in his mustang and rode around, talked more and more, then stopped to eat at Git-N-Go (a gas station for a first date...hmm - strange). It was my first time eating there but the hot dogs were great!! Some of his church friends were there eating too and it was a nice comfortable date.
He took me home…I KNEW that I was interested :)
((Picture is kinda like the one he picked me up in except his had lots of extras and the hood looked different :))

Always There (poem)
I wrote this poem when I was a teenager and put it in a book I made for my Journalism class. I enjoyed looking back through these poems 15 years later! holy cow, have I been out of school THAT long?!! let me recalculate...1996 minus 2011, yep I believe so.. well, will be this May.
Anyway, it is amazing how we change as we age. However, this poem has not change too much...with the exception of GOD being my best friend and my husband being my second best friend, oh and of course I have some besties too BUT...anyway just read the poem and you will get the my jest...haha!

Always There
There's a friend out there that everyone could know.
You can take this friend with you everywhere you go.
It will always listen and even understand.
Never telling anyone, always holding to your hand.
This friend will not forget the things most important to you.
Always there to remind you of the things that you should do.
A friend like this never asks for favors in return.
It will show you things about yourself, there is so much you can learn.
This friend is a simple item that anyone can possess.
In all times that I needed a friend, PAPER has been the Best!
{written by: s.stansberry @ age 17}
Of course, since writing this I met Jesus and HE has truly been the best friend that I could ever ask for!! HE has all the above qualities and much much more! But, I must say that writing has been a wonderful outlet for me.
Until next time, God Bless!

Snow Go in East Tennessee
The four lettered word S-N-O-W in East Tennesse is nothing short of pure magic!
This evening after church I made my first ever trek to the grocery store pre-winter storm! I am typically a very prepared personality and I do not do last minute.. So, I didnt really "NEED" anything but my son wanted redi-whip for his hot cocoa in case we got snowed in and I decided to see for myself if tales I had heard about the grocery store rush were true. As first, I was unimpressed because I got a front row parking spot BUT for any who knows me, Im kinda lucky like that..haha! I go into the store and almost every register was open with several people in each line; that didnt feel too intense either! I get my buggy and decide to go up and down several ailes to make SURE there wasnt something I forgot but to my surprise the shelves were almost empty, I literally had never seen a grocery store with so few loaves of bread (I didnt need bread but if I had there were not many choices). I made my selections and then made my way to check out and low and behold if a lady didnt say I can take you on lane 5. Some folks say I'm lucky but I like to call it blessed :)
On my way home I started my random thinking as usual and tried to put all the different ways to predict snow, things to do in snow, whats the best snow, etc etc...so I decided to jot down a list of notable S-N-O-W thoughts that occur in East Tennessee. I have only thirty two years to acquire this list so please feel free to add to it if I leave something out!
It is late and I have not seen the first flake; I love to see the snowfall but more often than not, I fall asleep first and wake to everything white. Snow makes everything beautiful; it covers up all the blemishes of the landscape.
Gods Word says:
{{Isaiah 1:18 Come now, and let us reason together, saith the LORD: though your sins be as scarlet, they shall be as [white as snow]; though they be red like crimson, they shall be as wool.}}
God covers our sins!! God Bless and keep warm :)

- never make snow cream out of the first snow
- if the storm drops snow in Tx or comes from the gulf, then we will probably get a good one
- wet snow is best for snowmen and snowball fights
- dont eat the yellow snow...heehee
- go to the grocery store and buy milk, eggs, and bread
- put on a pot of chili or pinto beans
- use a car hood for a sled
- teacher and students alike praying it sticks to the roads ;)
- snow angels are a must!
- getting out and driving around to see if someone is in the ditch
- have you got a generator?
- dress in layers
- catch flakes with your tongue
- dont get frostbit
- wet floor & tons of laundry
- beautiful photos
- fireplaces
- play cards with friends

New Years Sunday School Lesson
You may or may not know that I have taught women for ten years now. I am confident that teaching women is the job that God chose me to do! I appreciate God for allowing me to study HIS word and give me the thoughts and words to share to others. Even when I'm not exactly where HE would like for me to be; HE still comes through and gives me the words to teach those who come to Sunday School. I may try to blog some of the lessons that HE gives me. I will probably use words such as "we & us" as I blog about any lessons because "I" just dont feel right...please know that "I" could do nothing without the help of "HIM." we and us represents Gods spirit within me :)
This is last week & this weeks lessons partially combined
The New Years Lesson last week started out as: "Are you gave out?"
It seems that by the end of the year we have exhausted all our money, time, and energy preparing for Christmas! Anyone who knows me knows that I LOVE CHRISTMAS but as we know, so much energies are put into making this such a special day for our families. Always looking for the perfect gift, trying to schedule the best time, the best meal, display the best holiday spirit and so on, BUT by the New Years and all the talk of resolutions and renewed spirited and stepping out on the right foot or turning over a new leaf...is there really anything left in you to give?
The thought was.... even if you feel like you dont have much left to give, just give it anyway and God will bless!
A lady in our class said jokingly that she bought her dad a Willow Angel father/daughter figure because she knew one day she'd get it back :) at first glance this may appear somewhat selfish to do such a thing but as I ponder on her gesture just a little longer...God said: "Give me your best and you will get the best in return!
In Matt 14:13-21 Jesus feeds the five thousand with 5 loaves and 2 fishes...the morale of the people was down because John the Baptist had just been beheaded (its a very interesting story as to why, go read it if you havent!) the bible says that Jesus had compassion on the people (I'm so glad that we have a saviour who has compassion and feels what we are feeling!) The disciples along with a multitude are following Jesus (when folks are heart broken, where can they go? just follow Jesus) ...The disciples became concerned about how the multitude would be fed ---let me take a moment to show you what God showed me here...sometimes physical needs must be met before you can help someone mentally, emotionally, & spiritually. someone who is hungry may not be able to get the message that you are trying to spread until their physical hunger is met. God knows that we have physical needs as well as spiritual needs..I am a witness that HE can provide both!! salvation is not by works BUT by our faith, we will have works as a result!
The disciples asked Jesus if they could allow them to go find food; they questioned how much it would cost to feed so many..etc. but Jesus said: "do not depart" when the going gets tough stick with Jesus...do not depart, in fact he tells them to sit in the grass, maybe we just need to sit down for a minute and let our saviour take care of the problem at hand! If we cant give anything else this new year, let us give God our time, love, and attention, learn from HIM and HE will give us more in return!
"An impossibility to man is an opportunity to God"
Mark 6:37 says...they were worried about the cost as well, Gods created all! and the cost should be the least of our worries...everything is HIS anyway! in fact, Deut. 8:3 in the old testament, HE provided food by manna falling from the sky, HE could have done the same thing the day the multitude was following BUT instead HE was able to use the gift of 5 loaves & 2 fishes (Do you know who gave?) John 6:9 says that it was a lad that gave! this young boys unselfish act fed 5,000 people. He could have thought to himself that it was not enough to give or he could have kept it thinking of his own hunger BUT he gave and God not only blessed him but the multitude as well..your gift is not too small! Do not limit what God can do by your own estimation!! Do not be intimidated by the size of the need because God is greater than any need!
Andrew was the disciple who found the lad...we dont hear a lot about Andrew, he doesnt possess the fame as some of the other disciples but he obeyed Jesus and brought the small amount of food to him anyway! God can feed thousands by the obedience of man, he can feed them physically & spiritually!
lastly let us not forget about the time in mark 12:41-44 when Jesus was teaching the disciples about giving and he showed them the woman who tossed in 2 mites, it was all that she had but he declared to them that her gift was the greatest of all. Why would 2 mites be better than the large amounts that others could give? its because HE knows that she had the faith that HE would take care of her; she would really depend on God if she gave HIm her all.
In 2011, Give HIM your ALL! even if it doesnt feel like much because that when HE can work! may God Bless!!

Good Morning Underpants (a recent college narative essay - true story..lol)
Sometimes juggling the roles of wife, mother, friend, Sunday school teacher, college student, and caretaker can make one frazzled, to say the least! One fall morning everything seemed to be running quite smooth. Everyone’s teeth were brushed, check. Their hair was combed, check. The children buckled in the car, check. Backpacks ch…, peeking out of the top of my three year olds camouflage backpack was a plastic bag. I immediately imagined the scenario: He had dribbled at potty time and his recent display of obsessive compulsive tendencies caused him to insist on being changed. So, replacing the undies was a must – I went back in the house.
Just through the door, I tossed the bag over to the laundry room. Then, I hurried back to my son’s bedroom and grabbed a pair of clean, blue, and white Thomas the Tank Engine underwear. I carefully assessed them for stains or fading since they may lie at the bottom of his cubby for many more weeks. Consequently, I acknowledged to myself that our ordinary school day routine had become more of a race now – I picked up my pace.
My near sprint was distracted by the sight of my college backpack on the couch – I grabbed it up. Then I reminded myself to get the boys’ jackets and their lunch pails. Did I remember keys? My hands were full at this point, so I tossed the underpants onto my shoulder, set the house alarm, and pulled the door closed.
We had eight minutes to make a ten minute drive. I was confident that the day was improving. We steadily made each curve to the rural school in the valley, where both my children attend the head start and pre-k programs. We arrived at the little brick building with bright blue paint around the windows and doors, an apparent attempt to freshen the aging structure. I opened the door and paraded the boys out of the van. I placed their backpacks on their shoulders then secured the van doors for drop off.
I pushed them gently through the door of the classroom and encouraged each to hang their backpacks. I signed the check-in sheet which confirmed that we were indeed five minutes late. Meanwhile, I gave last minute kisses and hugs to the boys. Their teacher stopped to remind me of the upcoming fall break. I thanked her and rushed back to the vehicle. I was off to meet my husband for breakfast. I anticipated a moment to finally clear my thoughts.
I slowly opened the door to the quaint seven table diner downtown. The owner stopped me and we chatted for a minute or so regarding an upcoming children’s consignment event. My husband waited at a table covered with an orange waterproof tablecloth taunt around the edges and stapled underneath to secure it. I sat down and took a couple of deep breaths; a sigh of relief immediately followed, or was it accomplishment. No, it was a sense of survival. My husband leaned towards me and whispered, “Honey, what is that on your shoulder?” I glanced over ever so slowly as not to frighten the ladybug or whatever unsuspected critter that had caught a ride. Instead, I discover the little pair of Thomas the Tank Engine underwear just where I left them! I simply responded, “Good Morning Underpants!”
Where Should We Begin?
Where should we begin? I wanted to start blogging more in an attempt to capture my random thought process. Most of you who have read my facebook blogs are accustom to my style, you know that I have a deep belief in God, and I am confident that everything happens for a reason. I tend to try to brainstorm the "reason" and capture it on paper. Regardless, should my perception of "reason" be right or wrong; its my opinion and when you logged on to my blog, you signed up for it :)
Now, I plan for this to be a type of live journal, so I am going to submit a disclaimer right now and present to you a standing apology for any errors regarding: grammar, spelling, misuse of words, over use of punctulation, unknown abbreviations, the use of lol (which means I really laughed out loud when I wrote that) or the use of hahaha (which means its was funny inside) or bahahaha (which means I felt a combination of the first two...lol) So should any of the conditions just stated occur, even if you think its a mistake, I will feel sure it was my creative expression at the time and refer you back to my first blog ever...bahaha! P.S. heehee can be translated as my sneaky laugh ;)
I absolutely love to write! I honestly feel sorry for the one who will dare try to dredge thru my journals, word files, notebooks, and boxes of brainstorming after I die. Or maybe, they'll just throw it away and never dig deeper :) BUT, as I look ahead, peeping through the way I imagine the paper shuffle to begin I can share with you some of the stuff that they will find: diaries, journals, songs, poems, letters to many, sunday school lesson notes & more lessons notes, half written stories, tales...fact & fiction, etc.
I love feedback, so please do not hesitate to share your feelings with me and others on this blog site! Hopefully my next entry will actually be a TOPIC and as blogging continues you will get to know me better; I cannot hide my feelings when it hits the paper in the form of words.
God Bless and hope to be back blogging soon :) S.Stansberry
